I’M A POLITICAL science professor at a Catholic university in the Midwest that has a high percentage of very faithful Catholic students. Rosaries overflow the lost-and-found, icons beam down upon us in every hallway and there always seems to be a stray page of Aquinas’ Summa Theologica choking up the photocopier. Many of my students have strong convictions about public life – but even this close to the US presidential election, remarkably, I’m hearing almost no discussion about it.
