The Crime is Mine
DIRECTOR: FRANC¸OIS OZON
THERE IS mischief in director Franc¸ois Ozon’s decision to adapt a 1934 play, Mon Crime, by Georges Berr and Louis Verneuil, and set it in the full glitz of pre-war Parisian Art Deco when women in France had yet to gain the right to vote. The Crime is Mine is a delicious #MeToo romp that deftly weaves serious issues through a mixture of French farce and Hollywood screwball comedy.
